What You Need to Know About Your Chemistry T ShirtIf you love science, or just enjoy studying it, you probably have a Chemistry T Shirt. Why? Well, this t shirt is just perfect for you. They are like posters of what you should study, or why you should study the things you do.We can start with basics of what chemistry is, and why we need to have a basic understanding of it. Let's start by saying that chemistry is the study of the elements. These elements are basically what makes up all the other things that we call 'life' on this planet, including air, water, and even rocks and trees. From biology to astronomy, to medicine, and more, chemistry will keep most people's lives interesting. Its study is also vital to the fields of engineering, technology, and other jobs. Chemistry is also very useful in research, particularly for those doing something they may not be considered 'scientific'. To some it is a part of education and to others it is just another science. One of the first things t o figure out is how to make your own chemistry t shirt. While there are many shirts available, it is important to find the one that fits you, and make sure that it is comfortable to wear. There are many designs and colors that you can choose from, as well as the tags you can wear to really make your chemistry t shirt stand out. You can even choose to have the company you ordered from hand pick a design for you, so that you can keep it unique. You will want to select the shirt that best represents what you are interested in, or learn about. For example, if you like to do biology, you may choose a shirt that is all blue, or red.The shirt may come in many sizes and styles and may also be custom made to fit your body and needs. For this reason, you may want to search for shirts that are sold out and have been returned, or even ones that are sold out and you have to order more. That way you can pick the color and size that you want, and also get a shirt that is one of a kind.So if you love science, you will be getting yourself a shirt. This shirt will become a constant reminder of what you like, and what you enjoy doing or learning about.

American International School of Monrovia

American International School of Monrovia American International School of Monrovia The American International School of Monrovia Liberia Over 40 years ago -- with the arrival of a large expatriate community involved in everything from missionary work to mineral excavation -- a need arose to provide an education for expatriate children. Thus, American Cooperative School came into being. Starting out with just a handful of students, ACS evolved into a school of over 600 students and was known as one of the top American-International schools in Africa. Shareholders of the school were, and continue to be; multi-national companies, members of the diplomatic community, and qualified local Liberians in search of a quality U.S. Education. A change in the economic and political climate during the late 1980s and 1990s discouraged many of the multi-national companies and diplomatic community from remaining in Liberia. When they left the country, the school population declined, and with the onset of Liberian Civil War, the school closed in 1988. On October 8, 2007, after five years of peace in Liberia, the school reopened under a new name: The American International School of Monrovia. For the 2014-2015 school year, AISM anticipated over 150 students. However, the Ebola Crisis of 2014 led to a virtual shut down of essential services in the city of Monrovia, which led most international missions and embassies to issue an ordered departure. As a result, the Board of Trustees took the difficult, but prudent, decision to close AISMs doors (under Government Decree that all schools in Liberia be closed until further notice) to ensure the safety of its teachers and pupils. It was with great excitement that the Government of Liberia allowed all schools to open once again in early February of 2015, for AISMs eight continual year of operation, signaling the containment of the Ebola virus, and the resumption of normal life, in the country of Liberia. The crisis, however, did take a toll as the American International School of Monrovia looks to open its doors for the 2015 School Year with between 70-80 students in our Early Childhood Education program (ECE) through Upper School. Recently, as the economic, political and health situation in Liberia have turned the corner and business conditions have improved, there has been a direct increase in enrollment due to the fact that companies and the diplomatic community brought in more expatriate workers and their families. The American International School of Monrovia is a modern air-conditioned facility that, in the future, could once again enroll well over 600 students. Presently, there is ample classroom space for all of our students. In addition to the main school building, our facilities include a basketball court, gymnasium and weight room, and a soccer/baseball field. The curriculum is North American, the medium of instruction is English, and the student/teacher ratio is 6.7/1. AISM is in the pre-accredited stage by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. We have completed our 5-year strategic improvement plan, which will culminate in a visit from educational experts from around the world, in April of 2016, and result in a renewed U.S. certification for the next five years. Monrovia is Liberias largest city with a population of just under a million. Although we are a capital city, Monrovia has a rustic urban feel. There are modest swim and tennis clubs; there are several nice restaurants, adequate shopping close at hand, two fitness gyms, and high-quality housing with central air conditioning. On long weekends and vacations there is a diversity of environments to explore. Picturesque African beaches, the highlands of the dense jungle interior, and rain forests are all within driving distance.

What are the top five education resources of the last 40 years - Tutor Hunt Blog

What are the top five education resources of the last 40 years What are the top five education resources of the last 40 years? What are the top five education resources of the last 40 years?SchoolsEveryone knows that the printing press is the most important invention - it has almost become pass to point out how it facilitated the dissemination of knowledge, incentivised literacy, and even helped spread democracy, as politicians could appeal to the public through printed pamphlets. The field of education may have benefited the most from the invention, as schoolchildren soon had access to printed sheets and textbooks to help them learn. There have of course been many inventions that had aided learning since the invention of the printing press in the fifteenth century - but what are the top five educational devices, or learning resources that have become widespread in the last 40 years. 1. The internet. There`s really no way the internet couldn`t be included here, and though this list isn`t necessarily in any particular order, it should perhaps be taken for granted that the internet is the number one learning resource for every adult in any developed country. For many the internet is primarily used for entertainment - with Youtube, Spotify, and all the other streaming services, you can pretty much watch or listen to any piece of video or audio footage ever recorded. Youtube is also a great learning resource though, many universities upload their lectures to the site, and you can find a myriad of people who have created multi-part learning programmes, teaching anything from the didgeridoo to calculus. With just a phone, and a good signal, you can have access to more information than all the libraries of the world combined. 2. Word processors.I admit this may be a more contentious choice, but I honestly don`t know how students composed large writing projects before word processors were available. When I was writing my 13,000 word dissertation at university, I was completely reliant on my word processor. I don`t mean just in the trivial sense that I used a computer and a writing programme to create it - rather that I needed to be able to cut and edit large sections, and past in words and paragraphs. To have done all this just using pen and ink would have been beyond me, short of using scissors and glue, and literally cutting and pasting pieces of paper into my dissertation, then rewriting the whole lot at the end. 3. E books.I`ve never been able to assimilate long swathes of text on a computer monitor. After more than 20 minutes of focused reading, my eyes become unfocused. Easily irritated at the best of times (hay-fever season is a nightmare for me) my eyes just become sore after too much screen time. I`ve tried everything from increasing the font size, to attaching different filters to the monitor. It was while studying for my a-levels that I discovered E books. The screens operate completely differently to electric monitors: rather than using liquid crystals to display the text or graphics, they use something called electronic ink. The main benefit of this is that the screens are a lot easier on the eye, while also using just a fraction of the power that a conventional monitor uses. 4. Electronic educational devices. As I child I was fortunate enough to posses a pair of highly educational devices. One of these devices was called `speak and spell` while the other was called `speak and math.` Though extremely basic and rudimentary by today`s standards, these `toys` would pose spelling and maths questions in a tinny, electronic voice. A correct answer would be greeted by sounds of congratulations (clapping and whistling I seem to remember), while wrong answers would be met with sounds of disapproval. Of course there are apps on any smartphone, or even educational websites, that are far more sophisticated than the archaic toys I once owned, but at the time they were a wonderful learning resource. 5. Lego.Ok I know lego was invented more than 40 years ago (way back in 1932, to be precise) but I feel like I just can`t leave it off this list. Lego has been such a great learning tool for me, and when I see my children playing with it now, I appreciate all the more what a fabulous inventions it is. Lego allows children to let their imagination come to life. How very cliche that sounds, but it really does permit a child to construct an object from their own imagination. Along facilitating three dimensional spatial thought, and even teaching them a good deal about structural dynamics. Two of my good friends are architects and mechanical engineers, and they claim that it was playing with lego as children, and adolescents, that led them towards their dream professions. 27 days ago0Add a Comment

What Should You Know About Getting A Construction Supervisor License?

What Should You Know About Getting A Construction Supervisor License? If you're interested in becoming a construction supervisor or are already in one, it is important to obtain a construction supervisor license before continuing on with your career. In the United States, each state has its own state agency which regulates construction supervisors. As you prepare to obtain your license, you'll have to complete a training course that will help you qualify. A construction supervisor license means that you will be responsible for supervising the construction of any building or other structure within the state in which you hold a license. There are a number of different courses that are available and you will need to complete the same type of course in order to qualify for your license. You will first need to take a survey program, followed by an occupational safety program, and finally a fire fighting course. If you are interested in starting a construction business or if you are currentl y working in the construction industry, you may be required to complete an additional training course as well. The programs offered are usually either one-year courses or two-year courses, and although they don't offer the same career opportunities as an actual construction supervisor license, they can give you some knowledge about different construction techniques and safety procedures that are usually not taught during the survey program. The survey program will require that you go through basic education that includes classes on safety, construction, and environmental considerations. These classes will help you learn all about public works and how they work. Once you've learned the basics, you will have to take a series of practical and theoretical training programs that will be based on the kinds of construction you are going to be doing. Your training program will include topics such as designing projects, getting permits, and coordinating the construction process. The occupation al safety program will teach you all about health and safety regulations for construction sites. This includes environmental rules, standards for workers, and how to ensure the health and safety of the employees. It also includes materials handling, safety for workers and equipment, construction inspection, and other topics you need to know about in order to become a construction supervisor. One other important topic that will be covered is the appropriate use of tools. You will have to complete your survey program prior to applying for your license, and once you have completed this, you will need to complete the occupational safety program. This is because it will have to be the first thing you learned in order to get your construction supervisor license. It is very important that all supervisors are familiar with the guidelines and regulations set forth by the state's licensing agency. The other reason why you will need to get your construction supervisor license is because the requ irement states that you have to make sure that all workers on the job are covered under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA standards are designed to protect workers against specific health risks and this includes making sure that they are protected from airborne dust and toxic substances. It is also important to remember that you need to get your construction supervisor license in order to provide work protection for yourself and others on the job. Getting your license will give you a higher degree of safety for everyone that you work with.

Writing Equations in Slope Intercept Form

Writing Equations in Slope Intercept Form Equations of a line can be written in many forms such as the standard form, slope-intercept form, point-slope form etc. These forms express the equation of a line in different ways and represent a line in various equation forms. Slope-intercept form of a line is written by taking the slope and the y-intercept of a line and it is written as: y = mx + b, where m is the slope of the line, b is the y-intercept and, x and y are the variables of the equation. Example 1: Write the equation of a line in slope-intercept form which has a slope of 2 and the point where the line intersects the Y-axis as (0, 5). Given: slope of the line, m = 2 The point where the line crosses the Y-axis is known as the y intercept. Given the point (0, 5) - this gives the y-intercept, b = 5 Slope-intercept form of a line - y = mx + b Using the above equation, we get: y = 2x + 5 Therefore the equation of the line is y = 2x + 5. Example 2: Write the equation of a line in slope-intercept form which has a slope of 4 and the point where the line intersects the Y-axis as (0, -2). Given: slope of the line, m = 4 The point where the line crosses the Y-axis is known as the y intercept. Given the point (0, -2) - this gives the y-intercept, b = -2 Slope-intercept form of a line - y = mx + b Using the above equation, we get: y = 4x + (-2) Therefore the equation of the line is y = 4x 2.

Summer Bummer 6 Warm-Weather Dangers for Singers

Summer Bummer 6 Warm-Weather Dangers for Singers Suzy S. Are you paying attention to your vocal health? The summer season presents some unique challenges when it comes to caring for your voice. Learn a few summer tips for singers in this guest  post by vocal  teacher Elaina R Summer is in full-swing! The season of green grass, hot sun, pool parties, and BBQs is my favorite time of year. But as a singer, I also have to watch out for the special hazards that warmer weather brings. While winter is definitely a singer’s roughest season (zero humidity and the flu are no fun), summer holds some unexpected dangers for your vocal cords. Check out my summer tips for singers below, and have a fantastic and vocally healthy summer! 1. Dehydration Hotter weather often means sweat and more time outside, so you have to be extra careful to stay hydrated. Vocal cords are made out of the same soft, moist stuff as the inside of your cheek, and when they don’t get enough water, they become more brittle and susceptible to damage. So be sure to drink plenty of water, not just for your vocal cords, but for your whole body! 2. Allergies Unfortunately, all of the living things that make summer so gorgeous flowers, trees, grass    can also cause allergies. Allergy  symptoms can include  coughing, sneezing, congestion, and a bunch of other problems that inhibit breathing and irritate the throat. One of these issues, post-nasal drip, is particularly damaging to singers because it involves mucus dripping from the sinuses onto the vocal cords, irritating and inflaming them. Many singers (myself included) use OTC medications, nasal sprays, and neti pots to deal with these problems. 3. Amusement Parks Amusement parks can be lots of fun, but they also encourage lots of vocal abuse:  loud talking, yelling, and, of course, SCREAMING on the roller coasters and other rides. Screaming involves slamming your vocal cords together rapidly, and as you might imagine, it isn’t good for you. If you’ve ever found yourself hoarse after visiting an amusement park, you know exactly what I mean. Luckily, I have a sneaky trick that can completely eliminate vocal damage at amusement parks. When I ride roller coasters and other rides, I open my mouth    but I don’t actually make any noise. No one notices, I have just as much fun, and my voice feels great at the end of the day! 4. Smoke I love BBQs and bonfires, but smoke can cause coughing, wheezing, and mucus buildup. Avoiding this one is easy just sit downwind of bonfires, and be careful not to inhale too much smoke while BBQing. You can also volunteer to cut up the watermelon and leave the BBQ to someone else. 5. Concerts Summer brings a wave of outdoor concerts and music festivals. While these events can be a blast, they often involve singing along (usually loudly and with bad technique) as well as yelling and screaming. I bet you can guess my antidote for this one! Just like at amusement parks, I don’t actually make much noise at concerts. I mouth all the words and I look like I’m cheering along with everyone else, but I don’t actually use my voice. I have a great time AND my voice feels great the next day. 6. Air Conditioning While summer air in many climates is nice and moist, air conditioning changes all that. Air conditioning removes moisture from the air, resulting in dry, wintery conditions. This can irritate the respiratory system and cause coughing just like winter air. Air conditioning and fans can also circulate dust, aggravating allergies. To combat this, try not to crank up the air conditioning too much at home. If you spend a lot of time in a highly air-conditioned environment (like an office), you can protect yourself by staying hydrated and using cough drops or a personal humidifier if your throat feels dry. By working these tips for singers into your day, you can enjoy summer to the fullest without harming your vocal cords. Your body and your voice teacher will both thank you. Now get out there and enjoy the weather!
